23/06/09 11:48 GMT : And we're back!

With some help from my good friend Adam, we've added some new features to the site to prevent it from being used against Pro Iranian Freedom websites

If you find that your site is being unfairly targeted by this website, please get in touch and I'll add it to the exception list.

Again, a huge thank you to everyone supporting this site, your emails are greatly appreciated, apologies if I havn't responded personally, but the amount I have received is overwhelming.

Peace!

21/06/09 11:48 GMT : Down Temporarily

I have received several (a few somewhat unpleasant) emails/phone calls regarding this site. I would like to explain why I have decided to take it offline again.

Initially the site was being used by protestors in Iran against their government and their unjust practice in the recent elections.

However, since then, the Iranian government have been using it to attack the websites of the protestors, notably http://balatarin.com - it is for this reason I have decided to take the site offline again.

This tool can be effectively used as a 'weapon' by both sides, and while I fully support the protestors fighting for their freedom against an unjust state, I cannot allow it to be used to attack websites promoting free speech.

I hope to get the site online again in the near future, but not until I can be sure it can not be used against those fighting for their right to freedom.

This is also the reason why I have decided to stop releasing the source code.

Thanks to everyone who has sent their messages of support.

I've set up a Twitter account at www.twitter.com/tigercore so you can contact me that way and follow what's going on.

Thanks again to everyone for their kind words via email.

This site made the news here in the UK, as a result of its use in disabling several Iranian goverment websites.

Thanks to everyone who's emailed me offering to mirror the site to keep this tool alive. Sorry I havn't had time to get back to everyone but I'm working on it.

Go join the Iran Facebook group and support this cause!

Update: We're on Wired as well!

My employers, Wardour have agreed to cover the excess usage costs. The site will stay online as long as the server can handle it. However your donations are still gratefully accepted.

I have now received several emails regarding this.

Unfortunately, last night's spike in traffic cost me a lot of money in server costs, I therefore cannot afford to keep it online - even if the use is just.

Unfortunately I have had to take the site down temporarily.

The site was being used to attack other websites, until I can determine the source of these attacks, I have decided to keep it offline.

My apologies to everyone who uses this site for it's intended purpose, hopefully we'll be back soon
